From Fat Loss to Win Fight

I recently had the honor of training Soledad High School teacher and head football coach, Frankie Berlanga.  After leading the Soledad Varsity Team to Central Coast Section and taking the DIV Title with a 10-3 record back in November 2016, Coach Frankie had his eyes set on his next goal – getting into fighting shape.

He kicked off the new year as a 21 Day Fat Burning Challenge contestant.  After 3 weeks of consistent training and eating clean, he would take home the grand prize of $150 after finishing in the lead.  But things didn’t stop there.

An avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai at Kugtar MMA Academy, he immediately transitioned into training for his amateur MMA debut set for April 15th at Cagebound Fighting Championships in Modesto, CA.  I continued to guide him along the way as his striking coach, strength and conditioning coach and nutrition coach.

With a lot at stake, he endured weeks of intense training and followed a nutrition program I designed for him. By the time he stepped on the scale at his official weigh-in, Frankie lost 25lbs in total.
